2017 RECAP

Another year has come to an end. Well, not quite, but….soon! This year I didn’t play as many otome games as I thought I would, mainly because I ended up playing other games instead…oh well. ( ̄∀ ̄*)

Here’s a quick general gaming summary for 2017: I played Ace Attorney Spirit of Justice, Sora no Kiseki 3rd, NieR Automata, Persona 5, FFXII Zodiac Age, Tokyo Xanadu eX, FFXIV Stormblood (in fact I’m still playing that one…) and every single FFXV DLC. I played FFXV all year long in one way or another, which is kind of amazing if you think about it. I really love the game though, so I don’t mind spending a lot of time on it at all. Seeing as they announced even more DLC, I’ll keep playing it in 2018 as well. BRING IT ON! On the mobage side I tried to get back into Idolish7, but still haven’t caught up with the most recent updates, because….frankly, part 3 failed me (story as well as the new songs). I tried FGO (only to find out my device doesn’t like it, as it kept crashing), gave GBF yet another chance (I like the game but I’m too lazy for the grind so I always end up quitting at some point LOL), checked out FE Heroes (and got bored after a month or so), I also tried Animal Crossing Pocket Camp (for like a week XD) and finally my best friend introduced A3! to me…or rather, she told me about Tomu being the main scenario writer for a new mobage, I downloaded it at the speed of light and got us both hooked! Sasuga, me! But really, A3! is a great read and I regret nothing. It’s also the only mobile game I’m still actively playing and I CAN’T WAIT FOR PART 2!!!!

Okay, now back to muh girl games recap…

***

Otome games I played this year: Otouto Scramble, Juuza Engi, Mystic Messenger, Blood Code, Office Lovers, Clock Zero ExTime, Hakuouki, Walpurga no Uta, Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star, Nightshade, Zettai Kaikyuu Gakuen.

■ favourite game: Clock Zero ExTime

Even though it’s just a remake of a game I’ve already played before, I really really enjoyed it. The new content was lovely….50% of why probably being NAKABA ♡ (˘▽˘) but eh well, what can I say, he’s just that amazing!!! Honestly though, I love the whole cast a lot. I love CZ!

■ favourite route: Ryuu (Walpurga no Uta)

At first I wanted to put Nakaba’s route as my favourite, but thinking about it some more, I realized that I’m more attached to Nakaba himself rather than his route, so I opted for my other choice, which is Ryuu’s route in Walpurga no Uta! I never imagined kuudere + dogs to work well together, but apparently they do?! Not only is Ryuu super adorable (thank you, Ono Kensho), his route also had proper ups and downs, keeping me interested and making me experience a variety of emotions. Plus, I felt soooo content and happy after finishing his good end, even though it was fairly…simple? Amazing.

■ favourite character(s): Nakaba (Clock Zero ExTime), Ray (Mystic Messenger)

Nakaba is the sun while Ray’s…the moon? LOL. In any case, I wasn’t able to pick one since I got attached to both of them way too much. It was particularly painful in Ray’s case because he was doomed from the very start, being stuck in another guy’s route WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO ME CHERITZ!!! ( ಥ н ಥ ) Well, they are making up for it by releasing a new DLC in January 2018, which is Ray’s very own route OH MY F****** GOD!!!!!! I’ve already pre-ordered the Mint Eye Believer pack because of reasons (*cough* Ray’s diary *cough*) and my wallet is ready for all the HG I’m gonna buy. WAIT FOR ME RAY!!! As for Nakaba, I already posted a wall of text once, which can be found here.

■ favourite art & favourite OST: Juuza Engi

Not only does this game look good it also sounds good! I’m still listening to the OP and some BGM tracks even today. ❤ As for the visuals, Teita’s works are always beautiful, though I seem to prefer the older ones? I mean, not that Nightshade had bad art or anything, but when compared to Juuza….

■ guilty pleasure: Otouto Scramble

I don’t even remember how I found this game or why I thought it would be a good idea to play it….also, I STILL CAN’T BELIEVE I PAID FOR IT LMAO!!! I was going through a very hard time when I picked it up, so the crazy setting was a very good way to distract myself. I ended up having fun with this game even though it was for all the wrong reasons. _(┐「ε:)_ It’s okay! I’ll pretend that the grade schooler route never happened! Middle school otouto was very cute! That’s all I need!!!

■ 💩 of the year: Office Lovers

I bought it expecting something “bad in a good way” kinda thing like Otouto Scramble, but this was completely unenjoyable for me. Idek what more to say about it. Just no.

■ biggest accomplishment: Hakuouki

This one might be a little confusing to some, but my history with Hakuouki is kind of complicated, so finally completing the PS3 version after all this time was kind of a big thing to me personally. Okita, I will remember you fondly…

■ best bad end(s): Zettai Kaikyuu Gakuen

I’m still playing this one actually and I don’t think I’ll be able to finish it over the weekend so it’ll most likely also become my first game of 2018. (*´∇`*) Since I’ve played at least half of it in 2017 I think it’s okay to include it in my recap. Anyway, I haven’t seen all of its bad ends yet, hence I didn’t pick a particular one. All bad ends I’ve seen so far were WILD, definitely some of the most interesting and funny bad ends I’ve experienced in a while!

***

Like I said, I didn’t play THAT many otome games in 2017. I bought almost every new English release, but haven’t touched any of them yet. Guess that means there’s a lot to look forward to for 2018…!? ( ゚∀゚)アハハ八八ノヽノヽノヽ

Happy New Year!
